That is correct,,, the Australian Light Horse were not cavalry. (Although their seems to be some arguement by a small group who say they were!) The Lh were infantry who were equipped with horses as a means of rapid transport. They were trained in some cavalry skills (Recon and communications) but generally not the shock tactics of the cavalry.
