The 16th (Indi) Light Horse was a Victorian unit. Though it existed at the time of the Great War, it was not an A.I.F. unit (it was a CMF, or militia, unit) and thus did not serve overseas. My information is that it originally wore just the numeral '16' in gilding metal, but this was later replaced by the large badge you have, in white metal. No mention is made of a badge in silver.
