Hi Gordon,

As Rob guessed, the two CC Bossleys are the same man:

Charles Clifton Bossley, Trooper No. 48, First Australian Horse. This unit departed Newcastle, NSW, on 14 November 1899 and arrived back in Sydney on 2 May 1901

Charles Clifton Bossley, Sergeant No. 301, C Squadron, 5th Battalion Australian Commonwealth Horse. This unit departed Sydney on 22 May 1902, the war ending before its arrival in South Africa.

Two other Bossleys served in the 5th Battlion ACH:

Frederick Vincent Bossley, Lieutenant, ‘B’ Squadron, 5th Battalion Australian Commonwealth Horse.

Sydney Burdekin Bossley, Trooper No. 117, ‘A’ Squadron, 5th Battalion Australian Commonwealth Horse.

Only Charles Clifton served in the First Australian Horse as well as the 5th ACH.

Regards,

Bryn Dolan
