The slant about Boers hating Australians because of the Federation issue is a new one, havent come across that point of view before?? where did you come across that?

There was a major enquiry into the Boer War by the british GOvernment. It led to major changes in the structure of the War Department. Many officers were never again given active service commands and a number of political careers were destroyed as well. Your point about Kitchener being to blame for Gallipoli is placing blame in one area again,,,, get hold of a copy of Denis Winter's book "25th April - The inevitable tragedy" - it makes for interesting reading, only covers the planning training and the first day of action. Exceptional book with some radical points of view which are well documented and supported.

The blame for Gallipoli certainly cannot be placed solely with K. He actually played a mojor role in the decision to evacuate, but the stuff up at Suvla was the making of the men on the spot, as were many of the problems.
