The action at El Arish in 1916 is mentioned in pages 60-63 of: With The Ninth Light Horse in the Great War by Major T.H.Darley (1924, Hassell Adelaide)
Also as someone said by Ion L. Idriess in The Desert Column (1936); but only by hearsay as he was not there.
A Cape Coloured unit from South Africa stayed at El Arish for two months according to: The Story of the 1st Cape Corps 1915-1919 by Captain Ivor D. Difford (1921, Hortofs Cape Town). He says that the place had a RASC Depot, an Instruction School, and a Convalescent & Rest Camp holding 2000 at May 1918.
