My grandfather served with the AMC in Palastine 1917-1918 and bequeathed a book about the campaign to me. In it there is a certain Col Gray-Cheape, Hussars (Worcestershire) later LieutCol who seems to have been training with the ALC but I can't tell if this was actually in Australia for the dates you mention not can I tell if he served with the 14th King's hussars. He is famous for the charge at Huj. Hope this may be of some interest
