The O.R's (other ranks) tunic issued to all members of the first AIF had the flat (with a rim around the edge) brown buttons, of a very common type. The colour was more a fawn/caramel than brown.
I have been collecting Light Horse militaria for 12 years and have seen very few if any OR's pattern tunics with the brass,oxidised buttons.
