The only reference I can give you is that found in C.E.W Beans official history, the volume concerning 'Australia during the war'. In the chapter relating to 'kitting out' the diggers, it mentions the creation of the C.G.H.F. I have a saddle in my collection Patt. 02, marked to the 8th Light Horse, and manufactured in 1908 with the markings G.H.F indicating that the factory was in production before the war, but under the name of the Government Harness Factory.
