I have been given a saddle by a 96 year old uncle. He has asked that I find it a good home. He believes that it is a "light-horse" saddle - Boer War vintage. He thinks it belonged to an "Ashley Whitney", late of the Seven Hills, NSW area. I cannot find anyone by this (or similar) name listed on your site. He had put the saddle in with a saddler for renovation but the saddle retired (or died) before he could complete it. The saddle has been partly dismantled and is not, I don't believe, in good condition. Is this of any use to anyone? Should I try and sell it? Or do I donate it to an institution? Replies please John Simpson
