Olive, I had the honour of visting the war graves at Beersheba, several times, I was with the RAAF peace keeping forces, we operated helicopters in the Sinia, I was there 78 -79 and again 85 -86, Anzac day was very special for us as we were standing on the very soil our ancesters fought on. 78 -79 our base was in the suez canal city of ismailia and the later push was at a camp just east of Rafah. I have a particlar interest in the light horse as before joining the RAAF I served with the 1st armoured regiment, vietnam 1971, the later day "heavy cavalry" Fyling over that desert I always thought of our Light Horse, I read Joe Gullets book, "the long ride" I wonder what they would have thought of us in those choppers, and after landing back at base, fronting up to our swimming pool to have to have pizzas and icy cold beer.!!!!!!!
