To commemorate the Centenary of Federation in 1901 and the Centenary of the South African Boer War 1899-1902, I have put together a travelling exhibition of thirty five black and white images taken by an officer of the 3rd New South Wales Mounted Rifles from April 1901 to May 1902, the transcription of the 3rd NSWMR's Order Book from 14 February 1901 to 30 July 1901 (approximately 120 pages), the Nominal Roll of the 3rd NSWMR and the transcription of thirty eight letters written by Captain Robert Scobie of the 3rd NSWMR's. The exhibition has been endorsed as an official Centenary of Federation Activity (Stae Level) and will be on display at two of The National Trust of New South Wales'properties in October 2001. The first exhibition is at Woodford Academy, Woodford in the lower Blue Mountains on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October and the second exhibition will be at Riversdale Homestead, Goulburn on the weekend of Saturday 27th October and Sunday 28th October 2001. Hopefully, opening hours will be in the local press media. A small admission fee (for the National Trust, not me!) will be charged. To put this travelling exhibition together has already cost me $2500 and a few days off work and the cost of travel, accomodation etc. The exhibition had its debut at historical Tomago House in November last year and over three hundred people attended over the weekend. Hoping to see you there, regards from diggerdave.
