Dave,
I can not agree with your reply,
to say his poetry should have saved him is not the point.
I think Herman Goering wrote some poetry while waiting trial at Nurmberg in 1945. He also used the answer for his crimes with "he was Ordered to do it."
Does that mean he shouldn't have been condemed to death?
