After CHECKING my Australian Light Horse FIGURES from a DATA BASE which I have compiled, I have taken a random selection of 718 ALH men of the AIF and the following FIGURES were obtained. Perhaps these FIGURES would also reflect the OVERALL casualty figures of the AIF's Light Horse during World War One? Total Number in Random Selection of ALH Enlistees: 718 men Total Number of these men KILLED IN ACTION: 55 (7.66%) Total Number of these men DIED OF WOUNDS: 21 (2.9%) Total Number of these men DIED OF DISEASE or OTHER CAUSES: 13 (1.8%) It would seem (no, it now proves) that my ASSUMPTION was WRONG 'that most deaths in the ALH were disease (or other cause) related.' Never ASSUME anything, lest you run the risk of making an ASS out of U and ME!
