Mr Holly: There's a listing of Frank Dalby Davidson's books on <http://cf.vicnet.net.au/ozlit/writers.cfm?id=224> Bit of a mouthful I know! His dates were 1893-1970. Checking on Beersheba I found a different photograph of the famous charge (!)on <www.bluestarbase.org/anzacs1.htm> Unfortunately this site gives the incorrect story that the Lighthorsemen shot their horses rather than have them fall into Arab hands at war's end. Allan Box has told me they were divided into 3 groups. The best in condition went to the Indian Army, apparently few if any were shot by their riders. I believe the Arabs did get some, but others were officially put down. Allan Box of Leongatha has definite details on this, he is both an historian/author & unfortunately I do not have his e-mail address, only a postal one. There's also a fine military biography of Grant who commanded the charge ("Put Grant straight at it!" - Chauvel) on <www.adfa.edu.au/-rmallett/Generals/grant.html> Perhaps further Internet searchign will fidn more on Frank Dalby Davidson?
