Amend the earlier message to read: Check out the membership requirements for the RSL on their web-page. No longer do you have to have served your Nation overseas. Six months (?)in the Reserves entitles you to full membership and in next to no time you can be voted on to the Sub-Branch executive, 'volunteer' to take on the position as 'secretary' and PRESTO! you have the sudden gained 'power' to issue releases to the media expressing your own personal opinions and straight away it is accepted as being the opinion of the RSL's majority. Just as a very 'well known' contributor to this Discussion is p***ed off with the ALHA, I have the same (if not more)amount of hostility and venom towards the RSL! A large regional city has the RSL to blame for the absence on Anzac Day of the traditional riderless horse with reverse boots in the stirrups which had participated for well over twelve years in the city's Dawn Service and ANZAC Day parades. Another matter about a Victoria Cross also comes to mind. If this sounds like 'drivel', then too blanky bad!
