There seems to be a little bit of confusion there!! No body walked to Gallipoli,,, perhaps they meant that the Light Horse did not take their horses to Gallpoli. As far as I am aware not all the wounded went to Port Said, their destination varied. 12th Reinforcement of 1st Light Horse Regiment departed Sydney on the Hawkes BAy on 23rd October 1915,,,,, they would have been cutting it fine to even get to Gallipoli
