stacey,

You didn't give your grandfathers name?

There were three men in the 12R/1 LHR from Tingha NSW;

Ernest McCrohan

Sam McArdle

Garnet Sullings

None (I believe) served on Galliopi arriving to late to be sent over. You are right in that by late december all men who were sick or in hospital didn't return to Anzac as they were cutting down on troops for the evacuation around the 20th December 1915.

Those evacutated mostly went first to Lemnos before going to other places, but in the begining most hospital ships sailed strait to Alexandria, who then sent them to other hospitals, some as far away as England.

There was one Stacey I could find in the 1 LHR and in the 16R/1 LHR who was seconded to the camel corps in July 1916.
