I had a great-uncle who was killed on the first day of the landing at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 and a wounded uncle in a Singapore hospital who was one of hundreds to be bayoneted and shot by the Japanese after the fall of Singapore.
Don't talk to me of celebrating a defeat!
