stacy,

You can write or I think EMail the 1st Light Horse Museum at Parramatta NSW.

NSW lancers Museum Lancer barracks 2 Smith St Parramatta 2150 NSW (02) 4733 3873

The ARA or reserve staff is always there during the day.

The Historian may shed some light on it or your grandfather. He may also like to show the photo's?

Stories or photo's are not uncommon when talking to old soldiers, as an historian you should always be carefull of first hand accounts or diaries. Old Soldiers remember things differently then the facts as their scope of the action is always limited to the area or action there involved with.

I had a talk with an old soldier who said he was in the charge at beersheba, and told me a good account which followed the Offical history to closely. I checked his records and found he was in the 1 LHR which was involved in the Tel Saba fight on the flanks and could not have charged? His unit followed, like all others, into Beersheba after the fight. True he was in the battle but not the charge. Minor point.
