You can find info on Col. William Grant, later (temp) Brigadier-General on the web using a few keywords, e.g. via Google. Phil. Chetwode, Lieut.-Gen had been commanding the eastern forces during the Sinai campaign and may have been Grant's Commanding Officer when Grant was commanding the 3rd ALH Brigade. In September 1917 Grant, as Col. & tempory Brig-Gen, took comand of the 4th ALH Brigade. Chetwode now had command of XX Corps (infantry) and had the same high rank as Lieut-Gen Harry Chauvel, commanding the Desert Mounted Corps. Grant's CO was now Maj-Gen Hodgsen, commanding the Australian Mounted Division. Regards, Jeremy
