Many thanks Steve for the helpful info - it all makes more sense that way.
As an aside - the fact of C-Squadrons being in column (non-artillery formation)for the 4th & 12th following A & B Squadrons would be proof enough then that the infamous photo of the famous charge at Beersheba was staged after the event and that the letter of testomony supporting the source of the photo must be highly inaccurate - you see the contradictions I'm sure.
