Sorry I don't believe the "800 strong" stuff - it's simply not plausible. I was looking for more accuarate figures as to the combined strength of the 4th & 12th ALH Regt at the time and from this the number that wouold have participated in the actual charge; in particular how many mounts would have formed the echelon of A and/or B squadron of the 4th and 12th respectively. Sites that refer to 800 are usually wierdo-pseudo-religious trying to make a point that has nothing to do with the history of the ALH. I am not interested in wierd theories unsupported by facts. I'm sure you were only trying to help, but we should all be wary of requoting uninformed sources from the web. Regards, Jeremy.
