Bryn, Hi Bryn,

Can you be more specific re Division make-ups, please. I have the record of Australian Imperial Force in The Great War in front of me and it goes something like this: 1 Div.= 12 Battalions + attendant companies of HQ, MG, Support, Artillery etc. If a battalion was 1200 (incl HQ), this means 14,000 infantry. How were the rest made up?

Also, do you know anything about the reason for the gold "A" being instituted to show a Gallipoli veteran. ie Did this have some other significance like the official recognition of the importance of the campaign or to denote an experienced soldier?
