A LAUGHING MATTER.
Dear "Non .-Com." - Paddy and a few others of the machine gun section were showing the strain of their none too few unofficial visits to Cairo, so Lieutenant Eddie Carse handed the said few an issue of pack drill.
It was a hot day. The packs were heavy and the sand not light and I was "putting 'em through" their paces outside the Heliopolis camp.
Suddenly Paddy laughed - a real hearty laugh. I halted the squad. "What the hell are you laughing at, Private Paddy?"
Paddy's laugh died to a grin. "Be Gob!" he said, "Stephens here has got four more days of this to do after I've finished."
"Sikh," Kondinin.
