Eleventh and the Evacuation.
Dear. “Non-Com.” - Reference your par about the 11th leaving Gallipoli. The battalion embarked at Anzac Cove on the Abassieh on the night of November 17. The embarkation was put off for two nights on account of stormy weather. We finally left the reserve lines at 8 p.m.; boarded the lighters at 9.30 p.m., and arrived at Lemnos at 6 a.m. on November 18.
