Lesson from Wongan Hills.

The storm in a tea-cup at Wongan Hills and the publicity which attended the local sub-branch's threat to expel three of its members' have resulted in a withdrawal of the charges against them. The whole of the circumstances were placed before the State executive of the R.S.L. and provide a striking example of the necessity for any sub-branch to move slowly in matters of this kind. Hasty decisions may be regretted, but the damage done in the particular district, and indeed, further afield, is seriously prejudiced for years after the incident is officially closed. It is to be hoped that in Wongan Hills there will be no aftermath, and that the diggers of that district will realise that the ideals of the league are above the petty squabbles of individuals and reconstruct the sub-branch on lines that will enable it to play a prominent part in the affairs of the local community.
