Warm Braces
Rough weather after leaving Aussie with 1,500 reinforcements aboard caused a complete lack of discipline for a few days. No one worried much about anything. Then came the usual recovery and a rather plaintive voice came from a shivering, sparsely clad figure in one corner of the troop-deck.
"Anyone seen my flannel?"
"You never had one," came from the mob.
"Anyone seen my tunic?"
No one had.
"Well" said the shivering one, "I'm darn g-glad I've g-got a nice warm p-pair a braces."
