R.S.L. Membership
The drive for R.S.L. membership in this State has met with striking success during the last three months. Nearly 2,000 new members have been enrolled in that period and the organisation of ex-diggers now numbers close on 7,000. At the same rate of progress the end of Centenary year should see 10,000 men subscribing to the ideals of comradeship exemplified in the A.I.F. The objective is worth striving for. The League has over 100 branches. If every one augmented its numbers by only 30 the five figure mark would be achieved.
New South Wales, which was the most backward State in the Commonwealth as regards League membership, shows signs of a revival. Over 3,000 new members were enrolled last year. The credit is largely due to the new official organ, "Reveille." This monthly publication is catering splendidly for diggers and its reminiscent reminders of war-time triumphs as an organised body is meeting with a ready response to join up.
