The Oldest Soldier.
Dear "Non-Com." - Touching the recent story of the oldest soldier in the 16th Battalion, sent in by a correspondent at Northam. I think we have one at Burracoppin who will take some beating. His name is Alex. Hendry and his age is now 81 years. He enlisted at the age of 64 in the 51st Battalion, and was wounded at Mouquet Farm a year later, in September, 1917. He looks like reaching three figures, for he is a fine old chap. We toasted him at the recent, reunion of the sub-branch. - JHF Burracoppin.
