William Bowman DOUGLAS
Captain William Bowman DOUGLAS, an 33 year old Farmer from Bowman's Farm, Richmond, New South Wales, enlisted in the AIF on 3 September 1914 and was allotted to the Australian 3rd Infantry Battalion, "H" Company which embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A14 [i]Euripides[/i] on 20 October 1914. During Great War, while with the 3rd Infantry Battalion, "B" Company, Captain DOUGLAS was Wounded in Action by artillery fire around the Anzac Cove, Turkey on 4 May 1918 and subsequently Died of Wounds whilst on board the hospital ship Gascon, 5 May 1918. DOUGLAS was buried at sea and is memorialised on the Lone Pine Memorial, Turkey.
