Unemployment
Unemployment is a matter which seriously affects a large number of returned soldiers at the present time. While there is not enough work to go around it behoves our organisation of ex-service men to see that the claims of their workless comrades are not overlooked by public and private employers. Last week the Maylands sub-branch drew the attention of the Perth Road Board to the fact that a contractor within the board's jurisdiction had carried out a job on the roads with labour which was almost entirely foreign, and suggested that the board insert a clause in future contracts that only British labour be used. After a short discussion the board agreed to a motion to that effect.
