'Twas on Flanders' muddy fields in 1917 and a dilapidated company cook was standing by watching an issue of stew being ladled out. Calling to his offsider he said. "Hey. Bill! Stick a knife in the duff. It's O.K. if it comes out clean." From the queue of diggers came a voice: "Hey. Bill! If the knife comies out clean stick the cook in too!"
