834 Private Ernest Edward GODFREY, a 23 year old Miner from Ruby Vale via Anakie, Queensland. He enlisted in the AIF on 29 August 1914 and was allotted to the 9th Battalion, G Company which embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, on board HMAT A5 Omrah on 24 September 1914. GODFREY subsequently was Wounded in Action, 25 April 1915. During the Great War, GODFREY was discharged in London upon receiving a Commission in the 11th Reserve Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment, 21 January 1916.
