As casualties lists from the Gallipoli Campaign became known in Australia from early May 1915, it became a practice to publish a photograph of individuals. These photographs were supplied by the families of the person on the casualty list. There were few photographs published in relation to the number of casualties listed. To give the extent of the human tragedy that unfolded, the photographs were extracted from the various newspapers and placed in this album. Each photograph is clearly identified to an individual and brief details are given as a short biography.

Portrait of (left to right) Lieutenant (Lt) Hugh Henry Sinclair, 5th Battalion, Lt Harold Thomas Watkins; 13th Battalion, and Captain William Alfred Forsythe, 13th Battalion.
Lieutenant Hugh Henry SINCLAIR, a 21 year old Farm hand from 96 Gore Street, Fitzroy, Victoria. He enlisted on 5 January 1915 and was allotted to the 21st Battalion, B Company which embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A38 Ulysses on 10 May 1915. He did not serve during the Gallipoli Campaign but instead went to France where he was Wounded in Action, 4 October 1917. He subsequently Returned to Australia, 11 January 1918.
Lieutenant Harold Thomas WATKINS, a 20 year old Agricultural experimentalist from Casita, Waters Road, Neutral Bay, Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 20 November 1914 and was allotted to the 13th Battalion, C Company which embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A38 Ulysses on 22 December 1914. During the Gallipoli Campaign he was Killed in Action, 25 April 1915.
Captain William Alfred FORSYTHE, a 40 year old Area Officer from Yuba, 153 New Canterbury Road, Petersham, New South Wales. He enlisted on 14 November 1914 and was allotted to the 13th Battalion, C Company which embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A38 Ulysses on 22 December 1914. During the Gallipoli Campaign he was Wounded in Action, 29 April 1915. He subsequently Returned to Australia, 5 July 1916.
