Two Heroes of the Dardanelles 
 

The figure on the left is Private CV Love (2nd Infantry Battalion) and the other, on whose shoulder the child's hand is resting is Private VJ Pinkstone, of the 3rd Battalion. They were both wounded in the fighting on the Gallipoli Peninsula.

421 Private Clifford Vernon LOVE, a 20 year old Farmer from 2 Denison Street, Manly, New South Wales. He enlisted with the AIF on 17 August 1914 and was allotted to the 2nd Battalion, D Company which embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board Transport A23 Suffolk on 18 October 1914. LOVE subsequently was Wounded in Action, 25 April 1915, and then again Wounded in Action, 22 June 1915. During the Great War, LOVE was Killed in Action, 24 December 1916, at Guedecourt, near Bapaume, France.

964 Private Victor John PINKSTONE, a 19 year old Farmer worker from Cootamundra, New South Wales. He enlisted in the AIF on 2 November 1914 and was allotted to the 3rd Battalion, E Company which embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A14 Euripides on 20 October 1914. MOORE subsequently was Wounded in Action, 26 April 1915. During the Great War, MOORE was Killed in Action, 10 August 1915 during the August Offensive at Gallipoli.
