2nd Light Horse Regiment, AIF, Album
The 2nd (LHR) Light Horse Regiment, AIF, as part of the 1st Light Horse Brigade (1st LH Bde) was raised in Queensland in August 1914 as part of the 1st Australian contingent. The Regiment embarked from Brisbane, Queensland on board HMAT A15 Star of England 24 September 1914.

During the Great War, the 2nd LHR saw service in Egypt, Gallipoli, the Sinai Peninsula, Palestine and Jordan. It returned to Australia in March 1919.

Portrait of 292 Trooper (Tpr) Leslie Raymond Arthur, 2nd Light Horse Regiment, of Lismore NSW. Tpr Leslie Arthur was a farm assistant when he enlisted at Enoggera, Qld, on 16 August 1914 and embarked aboard HMAT Star of England on 24 September 1914. He served on Gallipoli Peninsula with his regiment and was wounded and later killed in action on 7 August 1915, two days after his 18th birthday.

292 Private Leslie Raymond ARTHUR, a 19 year old Farmer from Plainby, Queensland. He enlisted on 16 August 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.
