During the Great War, the 2nd LHR saw service in Egypt, Gallipoli, the Sinai Peninsula, Palestine and Jordan. It returned to Australia in March 1919.

311 Shoeing Smith Corporal James Artemus CHAMBERS, a 23 year old Blacksmith from Toowoomba, Queensland. He enlisted on 31 August 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 16 July 1918.
