1301 Driver David WILLIAMS, a 34 year old Seaman and Sailmaker from Carrington Street, Waverly, New South Wales, enlisted in the AIF on 22 November 1915 and was allotted to the Australian 7th Company Australian Army Service Corps which embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A39 [i]Port Macquarie[/i] on 21 December 1914. During Great War, while with the 7th Company Australian Army Service Corps, Driver WILLIAMS was wounded in action at Bapaume on 7 April 1917 and subsequently died of wounds on 7 April 1917 at the 4th Australian Field Ambulance, Bapaume, and was buried at the Bapaume Communal Cemetery, France.
