A WEYMOUTH EPISODE.
Scene: Weymouth Camp orderly room, early in '16; Commandant, "The Double General."
General (to digger paraded for being A.W.L. for 28 days) : "Have you anything to say?"
Digger: "No, Sir!"
General: "Did you have a good time?”
Digger: "My oath, sir!"
General: "Why did you come back?"
Digger: "No money, Sir, and I want to go to France."
General: "Sar-Major, put him on the next draft."
Digger: "Thank you, sir."
General (to adjutant, as digger leaves orderly room): "What's the use of clinking a man who wants to fight."
