Val. Sparrow and Leo. McComish

Eleven years after the war, one would hardly expect to see diggers still playing in league football, but there are still a few who refuse to take the count in that respect. Two of the most prominent are Val. Sparrow and Leo. McComish. The former is captain of East Perth, and it is not his fault that the team occupies its present position on the premiership list. He has been a member of several State eighteens, and the bigger the occasion the better he plays. Incidentally the khaki guernsey he donned with the 16th Battalion "over there" was worn with credit as he earned the Military Medal, awarded him for his sterling performances in the international game. McComish captains the red legs, and he has not abated one whit the determination he displayed while doing his bit with the 44th in the mud of Passchendaele and other places. He has also played for the State.
