William George COBBAN
7331 Sergeant William George COBBAN, a 19 year old Accountant from 23 Marmion Street, Camperdown, Sydney, New South Wales enlisted in the AIF on 14 July 1915 and was allotted to the 5th Field Artillery Brigade, 14th Battery which embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A34 [i]Persic [/i]on 12 February 1916. During Great War, while with the Australian 5th Field Artillery Brigade, Sergeant COBBAN was killed in action at Armentières on 1 April 1916, and was buried at the Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentières, France.
