New South Wales Imperial Bushmen War Diary, 9 August 1900.
This is an extract from the War Diary written by Major David Miller, Adjutant of the New South Wales Imperial Bushmen who arrived in the Mozambique port of Biera and then moved to Rhodesia as part of the journey for deployment in South Africa to see action in the Boer War.
9th August 1900 - [Wednesday]
Residents of Otter's Hoop left for Mafeking at 7 a.m. followed by Steam transport and some 90 oxen wagons accompanied by livestock. The Column moved out at 11.30 a.m. and camped 6½ miles out of Mafeking at 3.30 p.m.
The residents of Ottoshoop and the column flee towards Mafeking.
