In camp at Otto's Hoop. Engaged enemy. 17 casualties. Refilled Supply Column.
The column is attacked at Ottoshoop resulting in 17 casualties. Meanwhile the column is resupplying.

15 Aug 1900 - Wednesday
Column started at 7 a.m. arrived Otto's Hoop at 4 p.m. - 10 miles. Slight engagement with enemy outside Otto's Hoop - enemy retired. We occupied village and commanding positions.
The Supply Organisation is as follows:
Base - Mafeking
Movable Magazine from which supply columns replenish consists of seven (7) steam road trains with carrying capacity of say 250 tons. Supply Park (Brigade) consists of nineteen wagons.
The column left Mafeking and re-occupied Ottoshoop. Miller outlines the supply lines he established for the column.

Sir,
In accordance with your instructions I have the honour to report that I am continuing to carry on the duties of Supply Officer to the 2nd Brigade, General Carrington's Division and beg to forward a copy of my diary from the date upon which I posted my previous communication.
14 Aug 1900 - Monday
In camp Mafeking. Received orders at 7 a.m. that all Squadron wagons were to load up with 2 day's supplies and that I was to form another supply column for the 2nd Brigade which would move out at 1 p.m.. Obtained 19 mule wagons, drew supplies, ready by 1 p.m.. Column moved out at 3.30 p.m. and marched until 8 p.m.. Outspanned for night. Distance covered 8 miles.
The column is camped at Mafeking and resupplying after burning the previous supplies.

Sir,
I have the honour to report that on the 30th July I was appointed as Supply Officer to the 2nd Brigade of General Carrington's Division which marched out on the 1st inst. to relieve Colonel Hore's detachment at Elands River. The supplies taken with the Brigade were as follows viz:
On the man - The unexpended portion of his day's ration - ½ day One day's ration viz 1 tin Moiro Army and Navy ration and 1 lb biscuit - 1 day One emergency ration - 1 day
Carried on Squadron Wagons Two day's ration for each man - 2 days
Carried forward - 4½ days.
Miller reports that he was appointed Supply Officer for General Carrington's Division. He marched with the column to Elands River. He lists out the daily rations carried by each man and the Squadron.

Brought forward - 4½ days And in the Supply Column - 2 days Total rations - 6½ days
The forage was distributed as under On each horse - 1 day In the Squadron wagons - 2 days In the Supply Column - 2 days Total - 5 days
The scale of forage was - Horse - 12 lb oats, and For each mule 10 lb mealies
The following is a copy of my diary which was entered up at the time.
