9th Light Horse Regiment Location - Canterbury Slopes
9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - A lecture on gas was given this morning at the Headquarters of the Otago Battalion in Chalak Dere. Five officers of the Regiment attended. The use of the name Canterbury Slopes is to be discontinued and the whole of the ridge will be known as Rhododendron Spur. Six shrapnel shells burst over the Headquarters bivouac today. Three men were wounded but only one evacuated. AMC details attached to the Regiment. At the present time only one man of this detail at the dressing station. The others were evacuated three months ago. Men have to be provided from the firing line to carry out the duties. The organisation having these men simply attached to the Regiment is unsatisfactory as they are not kept up to strength and no reinforcements are available.
