5th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 11th Reinforcements Hawkes Bay Group, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board SS Hawkes Bay 21 October 1915.

The SS Hawkes Bay was built at Sunderland in 1891 and weighed 4,583 tons. It was owned by the TYSER LINE (G.D.TYSER & CO.)

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Rank on embarkation;

Full name of the soldier;

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

Second Lieutenant George Waverley BATHURST, a 39 year old Mechanical Engineer from Melbourne, Victoria. He enlisted on 14 June 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 1 July 1916.

1702 Private Edwin BELL, a 20 year old Labourer from Kangaroo Pt, Queensland. He enlisted on 18 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 27 June 1919.

1731 Private Frederick BOOTH, a 21 year old Labourer from Hemmant, Queensland. He enlisted on 30 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 2 September 1916.

1727 Private John James BRADLEY, a 29 year old Labourer from Roma, Queensland. He enlisted on 23 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 2 January 1919.

1729 Private Hugh BUCHANAN, a 19 year old Labourer from Copmanhurst, New South Wales. He enlisted on 30 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 25 March 1919.

1688 Private Stanley BURROWS, a 21 year old Clerk from Ipswich, Queensland. He enlisted on 20 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 5 July 1919.

1693 Private Charles Sebastian CARBERRY, a 23 year old Carter from Rosalie, Queensland. He enlisted on 17 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 27 June 1919.

 

1736 Private James Thomas CLANCY, a 22 year old Labourer from Nambour, Queensland. He enlisted on 19 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 26 July 1919.

1692 Private Albert CLARK, a 20 year old Dairy farmer from Clayfield, Queensland. He enlisted on 18 August 1915; and subsequently Died of Disease, 27 January 1916.

1694 Private James COOK, an 18 year old Labourer from East Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 18 August 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 19 October 1917.

1689 Private John Ashley COOPER, a 21 year old Labourer from Gayndah, Queensland. He enlisted on 18 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 19 April 1919.

1398 Private Edward Arnold CORNELL, a 22 year old Farmer from Goombungee, Queensland. He enlisted on 16 July 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 23 December 1918.

1725 Private David COULTER, a 21 year old Jeweller from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 16 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 12 June 1919.

1726 Private James Alfred HUBBARD, a 32 year old Horse breaker from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 30 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 26 July 1919.
