Australian Wireless Squadron, AIF, Special Reinforcement Kyarra Group, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A55 Kyarra 7 September 1917.
The HMAT A56 Palermo weighed 7,597 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the P & O SN Co, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 10 January 1917.

20151 Staff Sergeant Alexander Charles IRELAND, a 28 year old Wireless Engineer from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 27 November 1916 and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 22 March 1919.
