HMAT A50 Itonus

 

10th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 2nd Reinforcements, embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia on board HMAT A50 Itonus 19 February 1915.

The HMAT A50 Itonus weighed 5,340 tons with an average cruise speed of 12 knots or 22.22 kmph. It was owned by the British India SN Co Ltd, London. The Itonus was torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean, 20 December 1916.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Rank on embarkation;

Full name of the soldier

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

704 Private Ernest James BALLINGER, a 30 year old Cabinetmaker from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 14 January 1915; and subsequently was Discharged in Britain, 1 April 1919.

705 Private Frederick Walter BANGAY, a 30 year old Musician from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 14 January 1915; and at the conclusion of the war was Discharged in Britain, 28 September 1919.

706 Private William Albert BETTS, a 25 year old Farmer from Tenterden, Western Australia. He enlisted on 22 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 29 July 1915.

707 Private Samuel Absalom BICKLEY, a 32 year old Hewer from Greenbushes, Western Australia. He enlisted on 30 October 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 4 May 1917.

708 Private Frank BOLGER, a 35 year old Miner from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 28 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 11 April 1916.

709 Private Edgar Vernon BRADY, a 32 year old Plumber from Victoria Park, Western Australia. He enlisted on 4 January 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.

713 Private Henry Thomas BREAR, a 32 year old Upholsterer from Kelmscott, Western Australia. He enlisted on 12 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 17 June 1918.

710 Private Thomas Henry BRENNAN, a 34 year old Labourer from Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. He enlisted on 17 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 January 1919.

711 Private Edward John BROWN, a 20 year old Farm hand from Albany, Western Australia. He enlisted on 14 January 1915; and subsequently Died of Disease, 28 October 1918.

714 Private Arthur Lowerly BURN, a 38 year old Stockman from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 10 December 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 29 August 1915.

712 Private Albert James BUTLER, a 32 year old Survey assistant from Albert Park, Victoria. He enlisted on 4 January 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.

 

715 Private Basil Cecil CHAMBERS, a 21 year old Mechanic from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 19 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 November 1919.

716 Private Francis Cyril COVERDALE, a 27 year old Teacher from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 5 January 1915; and subsequently was Discharged, 10 January 1916.

717 Private Jack CUSACK, a 34 year old Farrier from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 31 October 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 1 September 1916.

 

718 Private Rowland Dudlyn DAVIS, a 23 year old Stockman from Bunbury, Western Australia. He enlisted on 6 January 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.

719 Private George DEAN, a 37 year old Rigger from Collie, Western Australia. He enlisted on 5 January 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 5 March 1919.

721 Private Simon George DINSDALE, a 43 year old Stockman Labourer from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 10 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war was Discharged in Britain, 27 July 1919.

720 Private Henry Taylor DITCHBURN, a 23 year old Farmer from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 13 October 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 November 1919.

722 Private David DORAN, a 30 year old Labourer from Golden Ridge Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. He enlisted on 24 November 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 4 May 1917.

 

723 Private Vivian EDWARDS, a 29 year old Farmer from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 23 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 March 1919.

724 Private Frederick Richard William EVERETT, a 24 year old Baker from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 8 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 12 July 1918.

702 Corporal Howard Loftie EYLES, a 24 year old Accountant from North Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 14 January 1915; and at the conclusion of the war was Discharged in Britain, 19 March 1920.

 

725 Private Walter FELSTEAD, a 33 year old Sleeper hewer from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 25 November 1914; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 20 October 1915, and subsequently was buried at sea.

 

726 Private Zebulon GREEN, a 20 year old Farmer from Brooms Hill, Western Australia. He enlisted on 19 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 24 July 1919.

727 Private Percy Leonard GREGORY, a 22 year old Station hand from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 19 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 January 1919.

 

728 Private William HAHN, a 27 year old Sleeper hewer from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 23 November 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.

747 Private John Farquharson SYME, an 18 year old Bread Carter from Subiaco, Western Australia. He enlisted on 16 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 14 December 1918.

 

Second Lieutenant Hugo Vivian Hope THROSSELL, a 30 year old Farmer from Northam, Western Australia. He enlisted on 29 September 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 4 September 1918.

10th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 3rd Reinforcements, embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia on board HMAT A50 Itonus 19 February 1915.

The HMAT A50 Itonus weighed 5,340 tons with an average cruise speed of 12 knots or 22.22 kmph. It was owned by the British India SN Co Ltd, London. The Itonus was torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean, 20 December 1916.

10th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 6th Reinforcements, embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia on board HMAT A63 Karoola 25 June 1915.

The HMAT A63 Karoola weighed 7,391 tons with an average cruise speed of 15 knots or 27.78 kmph. It was owned by the McIlwraith, McEacharn's Line Pty Ltd, Melbourne, and manned by Australian officers and crews. The Karoola was leased by the Commonwealth until June 1919.
