 HMAT A47 Mashobra

 

10th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, "B" Squadron, embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia on board HMAT A47 Mashobra 17 February 1915.

The HMAT A47 Mashobra weighed 8,174 tons with an average cruise speed of 12.5 knots or 23.15 kmph. It was owned by the British India SN Co Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 21 December 1916. The Mashobra was torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean, 15 April 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

10th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, "C" Squadron, embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia on board HMAT A52 Surada 17 February 1915.

The HMAT A52 Surada weighed 5,324 tons with an average cruise speed of 10 knots or 18.52 kmph. It was owned by the British India SN Co Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 4 January 1917. The Surada was torpedoed and sunk by a submarine in Mediterranean, 2 November 1918.

10th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, Machine Gun Section, embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia on board HMAT A47 Mashobra 17 February 1915.

The HMAT A47 Mashobra weighed 8,174 tons with an average cruise speed of 12.5 knots or 23.15 kmph. It was owned by the British India SN Co Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 21 December 1916. The Mashobra was torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean, 15 April 1917.

702 Corporal Howard Loftie EYLES, a 24 year old Accountant from North Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 14 January 1915; and at the conclusion of the war was Discharged in Britain, 19 March 1920.

 

725 Private Walter FELSTEAD, a 33 year old Sleeper hewer from Perth, Western Australia. He enlisted on 25 November 1914; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 20 October 1915, and subsequently was buried at sea.
