Bert Schramm was a modest man and a farmer on a property at White's River, near Tumby Bay on the Eyre Peninsular. He worked hard, served his country, raised a family, coped with tragedy and in the end, it was the wounds he received during the Second Battle of Gaza which shortened his life. While I never met him, his legacy lives on through these pages for it was through his great grand children - my children - and his diary that the story which fills this blog was inspired. The torch is passed on from one generation to another. At the end of the day, this website is Bert's story.
