Imperial Camel Corps, AIF, July 1917 Reinforcement Port Darwin Group, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board SS Port Darwin 30 April 1918.

The SS Port Darwin was built in 1918 and weighed 8,179 tons with an average cruise speed of 16 knots or 29.63 kmph. It was owned by the Commonwealth & Dominion Line, and manned by Australian officers and mainly by Australian crews. The Port Darwin was scrapped in 1948.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Full name of the soldier

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

3699 Private Edward Francis Leonard PLUMLEY, a 43 year old Farmer from Mandalong MSW. He enlisted on 30 August 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 28 June 1919.

 

3701 Private Michael REIDY, a 25 year old Labourer from Leichhardt, New South Wales. He enlisted on 12 November 1917; and subsequently Returned to Australia 20 July 1918.

 

3702 Private John SALEH, an 18 year old Traveller from Bondi, New South Wales. He enlisted on 30 October 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 17 July 1919.

3703 Private Walter Leslie Harold SEYMOUR, a 19 year old Labourer from O'Connell, New South Wales. He enlisted on 7 May 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 2 January 1919.

3704 Private Jack SHARP, an 18 year old Clerk from Rockdale, New South Wales. He enlisted on 5 November 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 28 June 1919.

3705 Private James Bogle SHEPHARD, an 18 year old Salesman from Hay, New South Wales. He enlisted on 17 November 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 28 June 1919.

 

3706 Private John Clift THIRLBY, a 27 year old Labourer from Port Kembla, New South Wales. He enlisted on 4 September 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 28 June 1919.

3707 Private Arthur Thomas THORN, a 32 year old Roo shooter from Mosman, New South Wales. He enlisted on 5 November 1917; and subsequently Returned to Australia 30 August 1918.

 

3708 Private William John VIDLER, a 22 year old Labourer from Nowra, New South Wales. He enlisted on 10 November 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 28 June 1919.

 

3709 Private James Alfred St Clair WALKER, a 20 year old Clerk from Wollstonecraft, New South Wales. He enlisted on 10 September 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 28 June 1919.

3710 Acting Sergeant Maynard WARDELL, an 18 year old Clerk from Roseville, New South Wales. He enlisted on 7 February 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 13 March 1919.

3711 Private George Frederick WELLS, a 24 year old Drover from Glen Innes, New South Wales. He enlisted on 23 October 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 28 June 1919.

3713 Driver Arthur Richard WHITE, an 18 year old Farmhand from Lidcombe, New South Wales. He enlisted on 19 October 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 16 March 1919.

3712 Private Charles WORKMAN, an 18 year old Stockman from Bowral, New South Wales. He enlisted on 9 August 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 27 June 1919.

3714 Private Horace George WRIGHT, a 21 year old Farmhand from Kogarah, New South Wales. He enlisted on 25 April 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 20 July 1919.
